Tips and sensitive information

We aren’t set up to receive sensitive tips securely. Please don’t email us anything sensitive, and don’t contact us from a work account or a work device. Email can be read by the providers it passes through and by whoever runs the account it was sent from.

If you want to share something sensitive with a journalist:

  • Signal is a free messaging app with end-to-end encryption. Many reporters list a Signal contact.
  • The SecureDrop directory lists newsrooms that can receive tips and documents securely.

We’ll update this page if we can offer a secure channel ourselves.
